Foster Grant Links Code at Retail Straight to Web Browser

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Foster Grant, that brand whose sunglasses grace the eyes of the sexy Hollywood star Raquel Welch in ads, is running its first Facebook contest using a bar code that can be scanned by consumers at retail.

The contest uses a two-dimensional QR bar code that stores the Facebook contest URL on marketing materials displayed in-store at select retailers. Consumers with a smart phone, equipped with the proper application, can scan the image of the QR Code, launching the phone’s Web browser that takes them directly to Foster Grant’s contest page on Facebook.

The contest, “Isn’t That You Behind Those Foster Grant Videos?,” plays o the brand’s well known “Who’s That Behind Thos Foster Grant?“ tagline. It offers the winner a chance at a five-day, four-night trip for two to New York City or Los Angeles and a wardrobe of Foster Grant sunglasses—one for each day of the trip.

Foster Grant Facebook fans will choose 10 finalists by voting through Aug. 31.
