Former General Mills Marketing Exec to Open Mars Advertising Office

MARS Advertising, Inc. has opened a new office in Minneapolis, MN, and has hired Ann Carr, a long-time General Mills’ marketing executive, to lead the office.

The move expands Mars’ reach into strategic retail markets, the agency said.

Carr, named senior vice president and general manager, had been vice president of General Mills’ promotion marketing organization. There she oversaw 85 employees to develop brand-building strategies for more than 200 brands including Cheerios, Yoplait, Betty Crocker and Pillsbury. She was also involved in developing merchandising platforms and supporting the in-field customer promotion marketing organization.

Carr is credited with developing a number of key initiatives including Box Tops for Education, Yoplaits’ Save Lids to Save Lives cause-marketing campaign and the $1 Million Pillsbury Bake Off. She has worked to create partnership with such entities as the United States Olympic Committee, Dreamworks, Disney and Nickelodeon. The new office will be located in the Wolfe Lake Professional Building in St. Louis Park, MN.
