Firm to Turn Internet Cafes Into Call Centers at Night

ALVA Pacific Franchise Corp. plans to convert a chain of Internet cafes in the Philippines to call centers during nighttime hours by early next year, to provide outbound teleservices for clients in the U.S. and United Kingdom.

“Since the Internet cafe business has become very competitive in the Philippines, we started looking for new sources of revenue for our existing businesses,” said in statement Ed Saldajeno, managing director of ALVA Pacific.

Within 90 days the firm plans to add an additional 100 stations to the 29 workstations it presently operates overseas. The company also has plans to open a new 20-seat call center in Xiamen, China, by September.

The centers provide on-demand telemarketing services with technology from Pleasanton, CA-based Five9 Inc., which maintains the hardware and software to run them.

Most of ALVA Pacific’s telemarketing campaigns promote sales of vacation timeshare packages and mobile telephones.
