Federated Department Stores Inc., Cincinnati, has reported that its Fingerhut division had a 29.4% decrease in sales for the five weeks ended Oct. 6. The fall off follows a 38.2% decline over the first 35 weeks of 2001.
Fingerhut September sales dropped to $1million from $1.5 million last year. The company attributed the downturn to the events of Sept. 11.
Fingerhut year-to-date sales of $6.9 million represent a decrease of 38.2% from sales of $$1.1 million one year ago.
