On Monday, the New York Attorney General’s office announced a settlement with 19 companies that agreed to stop writing fake online reviews, or “astroturfing.” This is the biggest in a string of similar legal actions taken against fake reviews, a stark reminder for advertisers to make sure they’re in the clear.
