Facebook Leads All Sites in Search Clicks; BMW the Most Genius Facebook Brand

According to recent numbers from Experian Hitwise, Facebook continues to hold the titles of the most visited website and the top overall search term.

Facebook ranked as the top website in the U.S. for the week ending June 4, according to Hitwise. The social networking giant claimed 10.76 percent of all visits, followed by Google with 8.99 percent, YouTube with 3.76 percent, Yahoo with 2.77 percent and Yahoo Mail with 2.51 percent.

Bing was sixth with 1.87 percent of all visits, followed by Yahoo Search with 1.23 percent, Windows Live Mail with 1.11 percent, MSN with 1.11 percent and Gmail with 0.93 percent.

“Facebook” was the top search term for the four weeks ending May 28, getting 3.33 percent of all search clicks during that period. It was followed by “youtube” with 1.08 percent, “facebook login” with 0.73 percent, “craigslist” with 0.53 percent, “facebook.com” with 0.35 percent, “yahoo” with 0.34 percent, “ebay” with 0.31 percent, “www.facebook.com” with 0.28 percent, “mapquest” with 0.17 percent and “you tube” with 0.16 percent.

L2, the self-proclaimed “think tank for digital innovation,” recently released its “The L2 Prestige 100: Facebook IQ” report, which measured the “aptitude of 100 prestige brands from the Auto, Beauty, Fashion, Watches & Jewelry, and Spirits & Champagnes industries on the world’s fastest growing social media platform.”

The report attributed “Facebook IQ” scores to these brands, scoring “each brand against more than 200 qualitative and quantitative data points to evaluate and rank their Facebook efforts across four criteria: Size & Growth, Engagement, Programming, and Integration.”

According to L2, BMW boasted the highest Facebook IQ, followed by Clinique, Audi, Lexus and Bare Escentuals.
