Evan Williams Bourbon Ties Sweeps to Fishing Sponsorship

Evan Williams Bourbon is boosting its sponsorship of professional bass angler Jason Quinn with a spring sweeps offering a fishing trip for two.

Consumers can enter the Reel Adventure Team Quinn Fishing Sweepstakes at EvanWilliams.com. The sweeps began Monday and runs through June 15. The grand-prize winner gets a fishing trip for two with Quinn, to a destination chosen by Quinn. Ten first-prize winners get Costa Del Mar sunglasses; 100 second prizes are Shakespeare rod/reel combos; 500 third prizes are Tru-Tungsten Jason Quinn Jigs and hat, and 500 fourth prizes are Storm Crank Baits.

The goal of the six-figure campaign is two-fold: as a branding effort and to capture consumer data at the Web site for future marketing, said Larry Kass, a spokesperson for Heaven Hill Distilleries, the maker of Evan Williams Bourbon.

Research shows that one out of every 10 adults who fish is a bourbon drinker and that fishing is a top sport among its core users, the company said.

Marketing for the promotion includes one-third print ads alongside a national full-page ad schedule in major consumer publications like Sports Illustrated, Field & Stream, Car & Driver and BassMaster. Tear-off entry pads, floor displays and shelf talkers support at retail. In addition, banner ads at numerous affinity sites link directly to the sweeps.

Evan Williams Bourbon is the flagship label of Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. This is the third year the brand has sponsored Quinn.
