People love their pets, and just like their kids, they love to post photos of the creatures for all their friends to see.
Eukanuba, a P&G brand, has launched a contest that strikes at the hearts and minds of pet owners everywhere: post a photo of your Boxer or Spaniel for the world to see. Oh, and, by the way, you could win a year’s supply of dog food.
The brand has opened a nationwide search via Facebook to find and feature a dozen top dogs in an exclusive 2013 calendar. The idea is to showcase beautiful, healthy looking canines that support the brands nutrition benefits, Manuel Miyar, associate marketing director at Eukanuba, said.
Canine owners can enter the contest during 11 entry periods—January through August—each with three phases—submission, judging and voting. The categories include: Boxer, Yorkshire Terrier, Spaniel, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Dachshund, Labrador Retriever, Chihuahua, senior (7+ years), puppy (under 1 year) and a submission period for “all breeds.”
Running the contest on Facebook allows the brand’s 98,000 fans to share it with friends to improve response. To enter, people like the Facebook page, go to the “Calendar Contest” tab to upload a picture and information about their pets.
At the close of each submission period, Eukanuba will select five finalists to represent that category and photos will be posted in an online gallery for voting by Facebook fans. The dog with the most votes in each category will represent their breed and/or age group in the 2013 Eukanuba calendar and receive a one-year supply of Eukanuba dog food.
