Direct Sales Increasingly Important for Restoration Hardware

Restoration Hardware Inc., Corte Madera, CA, generated $128.4 million during the third quarter of 2005, up from $118.2 million a year earlier. The home furnishings marketer reported a net loss of $4.2 million, an increase from the net loss of $3.1 million it had a year earlier. The quarter ended Oct. 29.

Direct to consumer sales amounted to $36.1 million, or just over 28% of the company’s total sales, up from $28.4 million , or 24%, a year earlier. The company anticipates that its fourth-quarter direct sales will continue to outstrip retail growth.
