Direct Sales, Free People Brand Lead Growth At Urban Outfitters

Clothier Urban Outfitters reported $379.3 million in third quarter revenue, up from $308.4 million a year earlier. The company did not report its net income for the quarter.

Increases within its Free People line and direct-to-consumer activities led the revenue gains. Direct-to-customer sales were $46.8 million, up from $36.1 million in third-quarter 2006, while Free People sales rose from $22.7 million to $31.7 million.

Among the company’s retail operations, Anthropologie stores pulled in $140 million, up from $106.1 million, and the Urban Outfitters flagship chain generated $160.9 million, an increase from $143.5 million.
