The DAK catalog buyers file, which has confused people before with its multiple versions, is causing confusion again.
An announcement by MIN yesterday indicated that the “famous” DAK catalog buyers list, is back on the market, managed by Xactmail.com, a division of VentureDirect Worldwide, New York.
“Obviously it isn’t the DAK Catalog list,” said Drew Kaplan, president of DAK.com, an electronic and information site and owner of the original DAK Industries Inc., catalog file of millions. “It’s the former DAK buyers that have been matched up against some database.”
According to sources, the file is owned by David Brill, an employee at VentureDirect who purchased the file during DAK Industries Inc., bankruptcy proceedings in 1994.
A small section of the file had been appended with opt-in e-mail addresses. The MIN announcement said the file offers 55,378 names, 80% male buyers, who have purchased high-tech products, including DVD players, computer equipment, home theater and telecommunications products of all kinds.
And it has been updated.
List Authority in Westwood, NJ, manages a DAK Industries Inc. file and DAK Industries business buyers at business address.
