DaimlerChrysler, Auburn Hills, MI, is looking for a sequel to this year’s Million Dollar Film Festival contest winner. The automaker has reprised the contest that awards a $1 million feature-film deal to the best short-film director.
This year, 10 semi-finalists traveled to the Cannes Film Festival to shoot a five-minute film (starring PT Cruiser or Chrysler Crossfire) for the competition. Five finalists spent the summer in Los Angeles shaping a feature-film pitch, under the tutelage of established directors. The winning pitch won a $1 million deal (September PROMO). Los Angeles-based Hypnotic, a production company partly owned by Universal Studios, handled.
For 2003, contestants advance through a series of competitions and exhibitions in Park City, New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto, with a longer calendar designed to draw more attention to the campaign. The yearlong effort kicks off Dec. 14, the deadline for entrants to submit their first films.
