Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Consumer Reports Online (www.ConsumerReports.org), Consumer Union’s Web site, has launches e-Ratings, its evaluations of e-commerce shopping sites.

The ratings are based on a systematic review of such selected features as posting policies (from returns to privacy), usability, and content. Sites are selected on the basis of traffic and a marketer’s popularity or relevance in a specific product category. Results are scored in Consumer Union’s five-point rating systems.

Some 30 sites were rated on the launch yesterday. Book and music e-commerce sites will be rated next week and toys in the week of Nov. 15. Sites will be reviewed and re-evaluated on a regular basis and the rating updated accordingly.
