Congress to Set Up Privacy Protection Commission

Congressmen Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) and Jim Moran (D-VA) have introduced legislation to create a 17-member bipartisan privacy protection commission to examine both public and private efforts to protect privacy.

After 18 months, the commission will recommend whether additional industry or governmental efforts, including legislation, are necessary.

“More than ever, the growing privacy debate in our nation demands thoughtful congressional action,” said Hutchinson, in a statement.
