CMT: Mother of First Birth During New Show Gets $50,000

Country Music Television is seeking a new venue to promote its latest Jeff Foxworthy comedy show—a hospital delivery room.

CMT is dangling $50,000 to one mom-to-be who gives birth to the first baby born in the U.S. during the premiere of Foxworthy’s Big Night Out, Sept. 1 at 8:30 ET. CMT said there are eight babies born each minute in the U.S. CMT’s Baby Bounty cash giveaway, which launches Labor Day weekend, is a nod to Foxworthy’s newest “baby”, a sketch-comedy show featuring live musical performances.

Under the sweepstakes, the mother with the earliest delivery during the local time of the show’s premiere will win the cash prize. In addition, CMT is offering $1,000 to the person who identifies the mother of the first baby born. Entry forms are available at Foxworthy.CMT.com.

The network also plans to donate a 42-inch flat screen HDTV to the hospital where the new baby is born. CMT will also award $5,000 each week (a total of $55,000) to the mother of the first baby born in the U.S. during the premiere of the 11 original episodes following the show’s Sept. 1 debut. Foxworthy’s Big Night Out will air Fridays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CMT.

“It’s a fun, unique way to celebrate the arrival of new comedy,” said Andy Holeman, VP-consumer marketing for CMT. “This is a new series for CMT, a new baby for Jeff Foxworthy. Everything is about driving awareness of that new arrival on CMT and how that will coincide with somebody else’s new arrival.”

“We talked about the birth of Jeff’s new show and how it’s going to be the mother of all comedy shows,” said Dan Smigrod, CEO and CCO for Great, the Atlanta-based agency, which handles the promotion.

Consumers can track the status of the baby search online at Foxworthy.CMT.com. Viewers can also sign up for text messages, blog content and RSS feed for baby Bounty updates at CMT.com.

Great will send faxes to some 4,000 hospitals delivery rooms nationwide and to TV and radio stations to promote the sweepstakes.

The sweepstakes runs through Sept. 30. Online materials and classified ads support.
