Charming Shoppes Names Lehman Brothers COO As CEO

Charming Shoppes, Inc. has named James P. “Jim” Fogarty president and CEO. Fogarty will also serve as a member of the company’s board of directors.

Alan Rosskamm, the Chairman of the Board of Charming Shoppes, Inc., had served as interim CEO.

Fogarty most recently was a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a global professional services firm. He was also a member of the firm’s executive committee for North America Restructuring. In his almost 15 years with A&M, his responsibilities included performance improvement, crisis management and restructuring advisory services to numerous companies in various sectors.

During his tenure at A&M, Fogarty most recently served as president and COO of Lehman Brothers Holdings from September 2008 to the present. From September 2005 through February 2008, he was president and CEO of American Italian Pasta Company. He served as the CFO at Levi Strauss & Co. from 2003 to 2005. From December 2001 through September 2003, he served as senior VP and CFO of apparel maker The Warnaco Group, which emerged from bankruptcy in early 2003 after completing a successful turnaround during his tenure.

Prior to joining A&M in 1995, Fogarty spent four years with the Corporate Transactions Group of KPMG Peat Marwick.
