Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc. reported sales for the month ended July 6, increased 7.9% to $20.3 million from $18.9 million last year.
The Hampstead, MD firm reported that combined monthly catalog and internet sales increased 33.2% while comparable store sales were down 3.7%.
For the five months ended July 6, total sales rose 14.7% to $94.3 million from $82.2 million during the same period in 2001. Combined catalog and Internet sales rose 31.6% while comparable store sales were up 3.9%.
“Our total sales continued to increase as a result of opening new stores and robust activity in our catalog and internet segment,” said CSO Robert N. Wildrick in a statement. “Sales came in much better than plan in the first quarter causing our inventories to be lower than we planned. Otherwise our sales in June would have been even better.”
