The Atlanta Braves and their Turner Broadcasting sibling Cartoon Network are joining forces in creating a branded entertainment and dining experience for kids and families at its home ballpark, Turner Field.

The interactive area, Tooner Field, will be located at the East Pavilion off the Grand Entry Plaza. The project, expected to open in mid-July, will include a three-story, layered facade with eight areas depicting Cartoon Network original characters in life-size baseball-themed environments.
Kids will be invited to explore and play within several activity zones, participate in a variety of cartoony carnival games, enjoy a picnic meal on a miniature baseball field or snack at a Cartoon Network-themed diner, Johnny Bravo’s Café. Parents will be able to watch the game on closed-circuit monitors at Tooner Field.
Properties to be included are many of the network’s top original series: Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Codename: Kids Next Door, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Dexter’s Laboratory and Ed, Edd ‘n’ Eddy.
“Our hope is to create a family-targeted attraction that will enable young viewers to experience their favorite characters in an eye-popping, three-dimensional encounter,” Denis Adamovich, senior VP-marketing for Cartoon Network, said.
The identity of one Cartoon Network character, who will become the Braves mascot for the 2005 season, has yet to be announced.
In addition, several of Cartoon Network’s characters are being considered for cross-licensing deals with the team and may be depicted in Braves uniforms for use in the team’s promotional material, Adamovich said.
Tooner Field will not just be a draw for families, but a vehicle to cross-promote Cartoon Network during Braves broadcasts on TBS. TBS may film kids at the event, possibly viewed through a live feed, he said.
He added that live action footage for Cartoon Networks show Fridays may be shot at Tooner Field.
Plans are also in the works to hold the premier of a Cartoon Network-branded direct-to-video animated feature at Turner Field.
