Canadians Accused of Telemarketing Fraud in U.S.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested Mark Eldon Wilson, 45, and Carrie Hope, 31, a couple living in Kelowna, BC, Canada, for allegedly selling bogus credit card protection plans via telemarketing in the U.S.

According to a complaint filed in federal court in Los Angeles, Wilson and Hope hired telemarketers who falsely told consumers they were affiliated with their credit card company and then proceeded to place charges their cards without authorization.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles has requested the extradition of Wilson and Hope from Canada.
