Call center operator EIS International, Inc., Herndon, VA, had fourth-quarter 1998 net revenue of $13.1 million, down from $21.3 million in fourth-quarter 1997. The company had a net loss of $701,000, compared to net income of $1.9 million a year earlier. For fiscal 1998, the company had revenue of $58.7 million, down from $85.6 million in 1997. EIS reported a net loss for 1998 of $2.8 million, compared to net 1997 income of $1.2 million.
The company attributed its net loss and declining revenue to a slower demand from its core telemarketing service bureau customers, which was partly the result of excess capacity. In a statement accompanying its financial figures, the company indicated that there had been a lack of growth of new business in North America.
