Brookstone Inc. reported a net loss of $13.4 million for the third quarter, compared to a net loss of $6.7 million last year.

The cataloger and retailer reported net sales of $76.7 million for the quarter ended Oct. 29, down 7.3% from last year.

Catalog and Internet sales remained flat for the Merrimack, NH firm at $13.9 million.

Hardware cataloger and retailer Brookstone Inc., reported a net loss of $2.8 million for the quarter ended August 4, a decline from a net loss of $400,000 for the comparable quarter in 2000.

Net sales for the quarter increased 1.3% to $69.6 million from $68.7 million for the same quarter of last year.

For the six months ended Aug. 4, 2001, the company reported a net loss of $8 million down from a net loss of $5.4 million for the comparable period last year.

Net sales increased 4% to $124.6 million over $119.8 million for the comparable period last year.
