BRANDS PUMP UP FOR “THE HULK”

Universal Pictures has unveiled a bulging list of promotional partners for this summer’s release of the big-screen version of the “The Hulk.” Retail efforts kick off this spring with some familiar and not-so-familiar faces for entertainment tie-ins, including Pepsi, Hershey Food Corp., Kraft Foods, ConAgra’s Grocery and Snack Foods Group brands, and The Glad Products Co. Pepsi will run an instant-win promo on 150-million packages of Mountain Dew, Code Red and Sierra Mist, giving away prizes such as “Hulked-Out Home Entertainment Center” with a 56-inch wide screen TV, sound system, DVD player, and Hulk X-Box and video game. From April through June, Hershey will run several Hulk-related programs, including Hulk-themed candy displays as well as a Hulked-Up Sweepstakes giving away a Hummer vehicle.

Kraft Foods will make 16 Hulk products available through more than 30-million packages, while ConAgra Foods will introduce Cookout Heroes, tying multiple barbecue products and giving away daily prizes via an online instant-win game at www.cookoutheroes.com (, including coupons and movie tickets for “The Hulk.” Nearly 40 million packages of ConAgra Food’s Banquet frozen dinners, entrees, and prepared chicken will feature Hulk graphics and promote a sweepstakes giving away a grand-prize trip to Universal Studio’s Islands of Adventure theme park (and a ride on The Hulk Roller Coaster).

Individual ConAgra Foods brands will run their own promotions, such as Slim Jim giving away a Hulk Wreck Room and 250 video games and Pemmican offering a Win a Personal Gym sweeps. The David Seeds brand will plant one green-seed game piece in select packages to give away a Revved Up Hulk Power Pack, including a Honda motorcycle, ATV and personal watercraft. The Glad Products Co. rounds out the group by offering a free movie ticket on specially marked packages.
