Rather than shunning fans for downloading his latest tunes, David Bowie is encouraging them to download and mash-up classic songs to create new ones in a chance to win an Audi TT Coupe.

Participants in the contest can enter at the Acid Planet Web site http://www.acidplanet.com/neverfollow and download the free Acid Xpress mixing software. From now through May 17, entrants can use any of the tracks from Bowie’s new Reality CD and mash it up with a song from any Bowie album. The top three entries each week will be placed on http://www.davidbowie.com/neverfollow for visitors to listen and vote for their favorite. The grand-prize winner will be chosen by Bowie and will receive a 2004 Audi TT Coupe valued at $30,000. A mashed-up version of the David Bowie classic Rebel, Rebel and new song Never Get Old is currently featured on an Audi TV spot.
