Holy Green, Batman!
Green is still a badge of honor, even though the recession has placed it slightly behind “making ends meet” on the recent priority list. But today i found a product that embraced environmentally responsible practices 40 years ago, AND used Batman to make the point!
Check out Batman White Bread, a classic example from 1966 of borrowed equity and product licensing.
The best part of the product (besides the awesome retro graphics) is the copy panel on the back of the bag, encouraging reuse of the bag for things like storing wet clothing, use as a laundry bag (if you wore really tiny clothing) or storing “fresh fish and game.” These guys were way ahead of their time. My favorite is their idea to create children’s hose and slippers from the crummy plastic bag. As if THAT wouldn’t get you beat up on the playground.
