Best Western International is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its loyalty program with two online promotions offering members the chance to win 1 million points or $50,000.
The Break Away Giveaway includes two separate promotions. The first, a video contest, which plays off an office break room setting from the 1980s, asks people to decorate their office water cooler as their favorite 80s’ icon, tape a 30-second video describing the creation and why it deserves to win. Videos can be uploaded to http://www.youtube.com/group/breakawaygiveaway through May 23.
Visitors to http://www.bestwestern.com/celebrate20 can vote for their favorite video starting June 3. The top five finalists will be scored by a panel of judges based on creativity, humor and consumer vote.
One grand-prize winner will receive 1 million rewards points, which can be redeemed for 100 free room nights at Best Western’s 4,000 hotels worldwide, airline miles for nine free round-trip tickets, or 80 adult admissions to SeaWorld. One runner-up will receive 250,000 rewards points.
A separate sweepstakes offers people the chance to win instant prizes, including $100 Best Western Travel Cards or the top prize of $50,000. Visitors to www.bestwestern.com/celebrate20 can enter the Gold Crown Club Reward Mania sweepstakes through May 29 daily. People who opt receive details about the hotel chain’s loyalty program will earn an additional entry.
“We’ve created these contests for [customers] to thank them for choosing our brand, give them a chance to win and let them have some fun with our 1980s theme,” said Dorothy Dowling, Best Western’s senior vice president of marketing and sales, in a statement.
Founded in 1988, Best Western’s Gold Crown Club International loyalty program gives its more than 8.5 million members the chance to earn and spend points at more than 4,000 hotels worldwide. The club also includes customized offerings for NASCAR members and Harley-Davidson riders and enthusiasts.
Best Western is promoting the contest and via PR and online advertising. Allison & Partners handles PR, Ideas Collide was in charge of Web creative, Initiative, ISM oversaw the advertising creative and placement and Don Jagoda works on the contest administration.
