Beam, Absolut Pair Off on Holiday Cocktail Help

Hosts stuck for a holiday-themed party drink or guests undecided what spirits to bring to the boss’s party will get help this holiday season from a Web site and help line operated by a partnership between Beam Global Spirits & Wine and The Absolut Spirits Co.

The Web site, http://www.4Cocktails.com will offer entertainment and gift ideas in an online campaign featuring Cathy Riva, host of the “Party Girl” program on cable’s Discovery Home Network. In addition to offering tips, Riva will be featured in periodic online chat segments on the site, solving such consumer party problems as what to do when you run out of food or drinks.

Visitors to the site, which is up and running, are also able to engage in live online chats with one of the cocktail experts provided by 4Cocktails.com. At peak holiday times including Halloween and Thanksgiving, consumers will also be able to get live help with their entertainment issues by calling a special phone line, 1-877-4Cocktails.

The Web site also offers a searchable directory of drinks recipes and an online drink calculator to estimate the liquor needs for the size party a host is planning. Drink recipes will feature the brands owned by Beam and Absolut, including Jim Beam Bourbon, Absolut Vodka, Cruzan Rum, Plymouth Gin, Starbucks Liqueurs and DeKuyper Cordials.

Beam and Absolut will split distribution efforts to publicize 4Cocktails.com in retail locations with point-of-sale materials including case cards, neckers and shelf talkers.

“With more than two-thirds of adults 21 and older attending up to five parties during the holiday season, it is no surprise that there is some anxiety associated with the holiday,” Beam U.S. Marketing Vice President Victor Rutstein said in a statement. “4Cocktails is a smart approach to educating consumers about holiday entertaining.”
