Bank of America has struck a multi-year pact to maintain its title sponsorship of the Atlanta Football Classic in the Georgia Dome.
Bank of America has been supporting the annual tilt between Florida A&M and Tennessee State University, and has been title sponsor of the game since 2004. Proceeds from the game benefit both schools and Project Success, a mentoring program established by 100 Black Men of America.
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation will present a $10,000 check to both schools in a pre-game ceremony at the game on Sept. 29. The foundation has contributed $17 million to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities organization in recent years.
The bank has prominent signage at the stadium and around Atlanta in advance of the game.
“Our title sponsorship of the Atlanta Football Classic and the additional scholarship funds for each university are strong examples of Bank of America’s commitment to the African-American community and Historically Black Colleges and Universities,” said Milton Jones, president of Bank of America Georgia and chairman of the Atlanta Football Classic, in a statement.
The sponsorship is part of an ongoing outreach to the black community by Bank of America, which also supports the National Urban League convention, the National Black MBA convention and the NAACP annual convention.
Bank of America also runs educational seminars on credit and money management at HBCU schools.
