U.S. companies are currently spending 25% of their budgets for electronic catalog projects on integration with backend systems, according to a recent survey by Mountain View, CA-based consultancy Input (http://www.input.com).
Users are increasingly linking their electronic catalogs into existing systems such as order entry, accounting, fulfillment, and product information databases.
Other major sources of cost for electronic catalog projects include efforts to integrate with external business partners’ systems, on-going system maintenance expenditures, and the cost of the actual catalog software.
