Backchannelmedia Tests Technology for TV and Internet Ads

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Backchannelmedia Inc. plans to begin testing technology for direct response television and Internet advertising in early 2008. Tests will be conducted with a limited number of TV stations that use digital rather than analog signals.

The technology links television and the Internet advertising with viewers able to use remote control clickers to request information and order products. It tracks responses to advertising, sales and the content downloaded for viewing on televisions or computers.

“We will directly link content owners and advertisers to consumers with a simple click of today’s remote control,” said in a statement Michael Kokernak, founder and co-CEO of Boston-based Backchannelmedia.

A consumer watching a live TV show a recorded show from a DVR will be able to click and transfer information in advertisements or content that appeals to them directly to their computers using existing digital television technology, according to Daniel Hassan, chairman and co-CEO of Backchannelmedia.
