SHARPEN THOSE PENCILS-DM education programs are gearing up for the fall semester.
* New York University’s Center for Direct Marketing will offer 10 courses in its non-credit DM program beginning Sept. 23.
Courses include “An Introduction to DM (The Nat Ross Course),” “Effective Direct Mail Marketing,” “How to Create and Run Successful DRTV Commercials,” “Direct Marketing Math and Finance” and “DM for Clubs and Continuities.”

* Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Business, Richmond, unveiled a professional graduate-level DM certification program in May. The modular weekend program-offered by VCU’s Interactive Marketing Institute-combines elements of a traditional MBA program with DM tools and techniques.
The four required core modules, each limited to 30 participants, are “Advanced Marketing Fundamentals,” “Buyer Behavior and DM,” “DM Research” and “Effective Database Marketing.” Participants also choose four of eight electives. For information, call 804-225-4735.
