American Greetings Brings Gift Card Mall to Stores
American Greetings Corp. is adding a gift card mall to its stores.
This week, the retailer is setting up displays that offer gift cards for 16 different food, entertainment and lifestyle companies. The cards will be available at American Greetings and Carlton Cards stores.
Gift card retailers include American Express, Applebee’s, Blockbuster, Borders, Circuit City, iTunes, JCPenney, Linens ‘n Things, Lowe’s, Regal Cinemas, Spa Finder, Sharper Image, Starbucks, T.G.I Friday’s, Vanilla Visa and Brinker International, which can be redeemed at Chili’s Grill & Bar, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and Maggiano’s Little Italy.
In addition to gift cards, the displays will also offer birthday-themed greeting cards, bags and tissue from $1.99 to $2.99. Christmas-themed cards, bags and tissue and new gift card designs and formats will launch in early November, American Greetings said.
Similar gift card malls are planned for American Greetings’ Canadian card and gift shops this fall, the company said.
Some 50% to 60% of people like to give gift cards in greeting cards or small gifts, the company said.
InComm, a marketer, distributor and technology provider of gift cards and prepaid products is handling the gift card mall for American Greetings.
