American Apparel Inc. posted net income of $3 million for the fourth quarter, a decrease from $3.9 million in the prior year.
The direct marketer and wholesaler reported net sales of $158.1 million for the quarter ended Dec.31, an 8.6% increase over $145.6 million last year.
The New York company reported that online consumer net sales remained relatively unchanged at $11.4 million for both quarters.
The firm reported that gross margin for the quarter of 2009 was 55% of sales, an increase over 54.5% in the prior year.
