7-Eleven Celebrates 90 with Free Slurpees for All

7-Eleven loves to celebrate its birthdays, known as 7-Eleven Day. Since July 11, 2002, when the brand turned 75, it has been partying with customers by offering free Slurpees at participating stores that day from, fittingly, 11 am to 7 pm.

7-Eleven DaySo today, that tradition continues as the grab-and-go brand turns 90 and it encourages loyalty and trial and a venue to show off new Slurpee flavors like Cotton Candy. Then on July 12, Slurpee Week begins, which means customers who buy seven Slurpees through 7-Eleven’s app will receive 11 coupons for free Slurpees. New this year, Slurpee cup icons will appear in the app, showing customers’ progress toward the 11-free goal. The limited-time offer says those 11 beverages must be slurped up by Aug. 31.

The 7Rewards app loyalty program has more than 700,000 members who earn one free beverage for every six cups they buy of any beverage.

“7-Eleven Day is a celebration, not only of our birthday, but more importantly, of our customers,” Laura Gordon,7-Eleven’s marketing vice president, said in a statement. “Ninety years is a big birthday, and our customers are the ones who got us here.”
