The WNBA All-Star Summer Jam will give fans access to the league’s top players during the free event, which will include family-friendly activities like basketball games, skills clinics, shooting contests and WNBA All-Star player autograph sessions. The event will take up 130,000 square feet and include a product sampling area.
Branded activities include the McDonald’s and WNBA-sponsored Be Fit Tour, which is part of the league’s national initiative, “Be Smart—Be Fit—Be Yourself.” The tour promotes the importance of health, fitness and self-confidence to teen girls and women through fun, interactive activities. AOL will have a Bungee Run station at that event, where fans battle a bungee cord while running down a 20-foot stretch and attempting to sink a basket.
In another fitness initiative, Coca-Cola will debut its LiveIt! Program, which will travel to middle schools in the fall. LiveIt! is designed to help students across the country build healthy lifestyles by encouraging physical activity as part of their daily lives and providing nutrition tips in schools. Participating consumers will receive a free stepometer as an incentive to be more active.
Procter & Gamble brands Crest, Secret and Tampax are sponsoring an entertainment stage, where fans will have the opportunity to get autographs from WNBA All-Stars and coaches, watch WNBA dance team performances and participate in trivia contests.
Nike will sponsor a half-court basketball court that will feature player appearances and shooting contests, and will give out an assortment of Nike prizes to the winners. Reebok will also sponsor a court area and give consumers a chance to win prizes by making as many three-point shots as they can in 45 seconds.
Fans can also have their photo taken against a WNBA backdrop with WNBA players throughout the day using a Nokia 6682 phone and may purchase a Nokia/WNBA branded photo.
Rittenhouse will give away WNBA player card sheets and posters to promote its first ever line of WNBA cards schedule for release on July 25. They will also produce oversized cards that will be autographed by All-Stars and offered as prizes for designated contest winners throughout the day.
