WELL, the U.S. Postal Service has decided to go forward with its plans to raise rates for the third time in two years. Given the nation’s economic doldrums and mailers’ growing resistance to endless rate increases, the USPS will have to cut costs wherever it can to live within its means.
Congressional leaders, however, are going to be watching what happens with an eagle eye to make sure postal officials don’t reduce the USPS’ commitment to universal mail service. (Here
