There’s always coupons, P-O-P displays, sponsorships and other promotions. But one company took it a little farther last weekend, sending “streakers” dashing about popular sporting events, wearing little else than a Web address.
The GoldenPalace.com casino tapped two streakers to crash the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona and the PGA Tour’s British Open in Sandwich last Sunday.
One, a male dressed only in a pink tutu, red bathing cap and the casino’s Web address, www.goldenpalace.com, jumped into a pool during the synchronized swimming final of the championships. Another, a female, broke out from the crowd during the presentation of the championship trophy at the British Open. She was topless (wearing pasties and the Web URL) and was hauled away by security.
Results of the promotion were not released.
In case you’d like to add this type of marketing to your list of potential channels, it’s called the “body billboard.”
