Web Profiling Standards To Be Set

The Customer Profile Exchange (CPEX), a system to standardize how data about e-commerce customers are created, stored, and exchanged, was announced by over two dozen Internet direct marketers at the Personalization Summit in San Francisco yesterday. The standards are to include embedded privacy controls.

The chair of the consortium is Siebel Systems Inc. The co-chairs are net.Genesis, Cambridge, MA, and Vignette Corp., Austin, TX, who is credited with getting CPEX going. Working with them will be such competing companies as Andromedia and Oracle Corp.
