E-Tees OK, we admit we’re suckers for a good tag line. Brand Fury’s choice is “Kicks more funk than a Shaolin monk.” The online company designs and sells T-shirts that “pay homage to chopsocky flicks, kung fu theater and dragons.”
While the Web site (www.brandfury.com) promises “ass-kicking apparel,” it only offers eight different T-shirt designs.
The tag line is used in space ads in the back of martial arts magazines and on the site, apparently to put forward the idea that these are shirts with martial arts attitude.
For example, a typical shirt sports a cartoon character who looks vaguely like Bruce Lee. He’s in a martial arts pose accompanied by the slogan, “Fear of the Dragon.” Another selection offers what looks like a Man in Black below a dialogue balloon saying: “Chopsocky.” But none of the shirts display the main tag line.
On the site, Brand Fury says its mission is “to fuse traditional Eastern soul with Western retro sportswear, uniting the best of both worlds into fashion.”
That’s fine, guys, but what we really want is a T-shirt declaring, “Kicks More Funk Than a Shaolin Monk.”
