Volkswagen of America, Inc. and Scholastic Marketing Partners have kicked off the next phase of their seat belt safety campaign with an online voting component.
The Fasten Your Seat Belt…Go Far! campaign is a nationwide program that challenges teens to create TV spots that persuade their peers to buckle up (Xtra March 23). The campaign doubled its reach to 20 markets in its third year.
The campaign included educational curriculum designed to give high school students the tools to influence students through positive peer pressure. The curriculum includes classroom materials to help teachers engage students in seat belt safety.
Volkswagen and Scholastic narrowed the entries down from more than 500 submissions to three finalists. The finalists include Jessica Reynolds from Carson Valley Middle School in Garnerville, NV; Kimberly Pang, Clements high School, Sugar Land, TX; and Daniel Zhao, Glenn A. Wilson high School in Hacienda Heights, CA.
Consumers can cast their votes at Fuse.tv or at VW.com/vwlife/socialaction.html. Voting ends Nov. 25. The winner will be announced Nov. 28 on Fuse-TV. Online materials support.
Volkswagen aired the three PSAs nationally on Fuse TV’s Daily Download. The top winner gets a $10,000 U.S. Savings Bond. The second- and third-place winners will receive $3,000 and $1,000 savings bonds, respectively.
