Visa has become the first Olympic corporate sponsor to sign deals with all 10 members of the Refugee Olympic Team.
“The refugee athletes will act as a symbol of hope for refugees worldwide and bring global attention to the magnitude of the refugee crisis when they take part in the Games this summer,” the International Olympic Committee says.
With 60 athletes, Team Visa is the most expansive group of Olympic and Paralympic athletes that Visa has supported to date.
The Visa team has grown by 62% since the last Olympic Games, with athletes representing a range of 26 sports, from diving and dressage to taekwondo and table tennis.
