USPS COO Clarence E. Lewis Jr. Will Retire Next Month

Clarence E. Lewis Jr., chief operating officer and executive vice president of the U.S. Postal Service has announced that he will retire on Sept. 29.

Lewis was appointed COO and executive vice president by Postmaster General William J. Henderson in 1998.

Jerry Cerasale, the Direct Marketing Association’s senior vice president, government affairs, who dealt with Lewis on a number of postal issues, said Lewis “has been an asset to the postal service and will be greatly missed.”

Lewis joined the USPS in 1996 as a letter carrier and rose through its ranks, serving in a variety of management positions.
