USPS Combines International Mail Services Into Familiar Brands

The U.S. Postal Service is combining its eight primary international mail offerings into four categories familiar to U.S. customers. The move will allow U.S. customers to use Priority Mail and Express Mail packaging for items with foreign and domestic destinations. The transition is expected to happen in May 14.

Under the new structure, Global Express Guaranteed (document and non-document) will be combined into Global Express Guaranteed (regardless of content); Global Express Mail will become Express Mail International; Global Priority Mail, Airmail Parcel Post and Economy Parcel Post will be grouped under the Priority Mail International heading; and Airmail Letter Post and Economy Letter Post will be combined into First-Class Mail International.

Additionally, the cost to mail a letter to Canada or Mexico will rise from its current 63 cents to 69 cents.

The USPS reminded mailers that online tools combine customs forms and mailing labels into one document.
