U.S. Bank Launches Invitation-Only Credit Card Loyalty Program

Got a spare $1,500 cluttering up the manse as well as a yearning for luxury travel? Stratus Rewards, a loyalty program that features the Stratus Rewards Visa card, can relieve you of both.

The catch is that it’s not available for the asking. Membership in the program, which is being coordinated by U.S. Bank Corporate Payment Systems, is granted only through an affiliation with one of its partners (which include Gotham Magazine, Elite Traveler, LA Confidential or many of its premium providers) or by nomination of an existing member.

For one’s $1,500 (per year, in case you were wondering), one earns the opportunity to earn points redeemable for private jet travel via MarquisJet, which offers accommodations on a fleet that includes planes ranging from seven-passenger Citation Ultras up to 13-passenger Gulfstream IV-SPs.

If whipping through the skies living out a Croesus fantasy doesn’t appeal, enrollees may also take advantage of concierge services from Mint Lifestyle, enrollment in Abercrombie & Kent’s Marco Polo Club, participation in Sony Corp.’s “Cierge” electronics program, and premium insurance coverage.

Stratus Rewards members may also elect to join the Stratus Rewards Club 360 program, which “rewards members with award-show-style gift bags with hot trend-setting items,” according to a company statement. And if members have any doubt that the items are either hot or trend setting, the Stratus Rewards Lifestyle Council service will provide information and advice to set them straight.

Stratus will award a secondary Visa card for an additional $500 annual fee. For small- and medium-sized businesses, Stratus Rewards provides cardholders the opportunity to issue employees standard U.S. Bank “OneCard” credit cards for a paltry $75 annual fee
