Tygo.com, a new search engine provider, is offering $5 million in free advertising to hype its flat-rate advertising program.
The Irvine, CA-based firm has given out prepaid advertising cards worth $250 apiece in flat-rate keyword placements to 20,000 advertisers at trade shows.
“Advertisers feel they’ve been getting gouged by traditional pay-per-click programs and they really seem to appreciate a more predictable way to advertisers,’ said Nick Rapa, Tygo’s director of technology, in a statement.
Tygo.com announced in July that it would offer a flat rate for keyword advertising. Regardless of the number of clicks, advertisers pay a flat rate of from $1 to $25 per month.
Founder Hugh Elder has referred to the plan as “the dollar-store” for advertisers.
