TV Guide Inc. is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its flagship magazine TV Guide.
The 12-month celebration began Monday and will include special monthly editorial features appearing across all branded platforms, television specials and special events. A “TV Guide’s 50 Best Shows of All Time,” airs May 13 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
A new anniversary logo will be unveiled this month and will be incorporated by the U.S. Postal Service into a special stamp cancellation in 2003, the company said.
Promotions can be seen at various retail outlets including a window display at Barney’s New York on Madison Avenue.
The TV Guide brand debuted on April 3, 1953, with the first issue of TV Guide magazine, a publication devoted to television guidance. The brand includes TV Guide magazine –with a weekly readership of 30 million; TV Guide Channel–a cable television channel reaching 58 million domestic households; TV Guide Online at www.tvguide.com, which attracts 150 million page views per month; TV Guide’s interactive program guides — TV Guide Interactive and GUIDE Plus+, reaching 15 million homes.
The April 6 “TV We’ll Always Remember” issue of TV Guide magazine launches a series of shows that feature more than 50 stars. TV Guide Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc.
