Travelzoo Flies High in Second Quarter

Travelzoo, an online firm that offers travel packages, reported second-quarter revenue of $12.3 million, up from $7.2 million a year ago and from $11.2 million during first-quarter 2005. The New York-based company generated $2.2 million in net income during the quarter, an increase from the $1.3 million it realized a year ago. The quarter ended June 30.

Travelzoo generates its income from the sale of online advertising to travel companies. During the quarter, the company launched Travelzoo UK Ltd, which incurred a loss of $175,000 during the quarter.
