Top U.S. Local Markets

Recent figures released by Nielsen//NetRatings show a glimpse into the top U.S. local markets both in terms of total unique visitors and time spent online per visitor.

With respect to total unique visitors during the month of September, New York topped the list with an audience of 11.4 million visitors during the month. These visitors generated 30.2 billion page views and spent an average of 21:53:45 online in September.

Los Angeles was second on the list with 7.8 million unique visitors, who generated 23.9 billion page views. These users spent 22:45:33 online during the month.

Chicago was third on the list with 4.9 million unique visitors, while Atlanta was fourth with a unique audience of 3.9 million.

Dallas-Ft. Worth (3.9 million), Philadelphia (3.7 million), Boston (Manchester) (3.2 million), San Francisco-Oak-San Jose (3.2 million), Washington D.C. (Hagerstown) (3.1 million), and Houston (2.9 million) rounded out the top 10 list.

In terms of time spent online per visitor, Phoenix (Prescott) topped the list, with each visitor spending an average of 30:51:29 online during September. Charlotte was second on the list with time spent online per visitor at 28:49:04, while Louisville was third with a time spent per visitor of 28:26:21.

Milwaukee (27:51:05), San Antonio (26:52:34), Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourn (26:25:24), Salt Lake City (26:12:33), Atlanta (26:12:13), Indianapolis (26:08:50), and Portland, OR (25:55:45) rounded out the top 10 list.
