Improved customer service and Web site features would encourage more consumers to shop online, according to survey findings released by the e-commerce software company Allurent Inc.

An overwhelming 82% of consumers said a frustrating experience would make them less likely to shop again at a particular Web site.

Three-quarters of consumers surveyed had more favorable opinions of Web sites that allow them to click on products to create pop up windows with more details about price, size, colors and in-stock availability, etc.

About 70% of consumers prefer to add products to electronic shopping carts without leaving the Web page they’re presently on. Sixty-four percent of consumers prefer to enter all purchases on a single Web page.

Sixty-eight percent would like to see more product descriptions and details on Web pages. Forty-seven percent like being able to compare product images on a single Web page, according to findings released by Allure.

In a separate study, Jupiter Research found that 24% of cell phone users would be interested in receiving special offers and coupons on their phones.
