Stupid Anti-Spammer Watch: Them’s Fightin’ Words

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

OK, now they’ve gone too far.

One of the evil little pinheads at frothing-at-the-mouth anti-spam discussion group Nanae has finally insulted me more than I can tolerate. I simply can’t sit still and let this injustice go without a response.

A post appeared on Nanae last week written by Mark Ferguson, in which he delivered me the ultimate low blow.

For background, Ferguson is an anti-spammer with a reputation for being a little more, shall we say, dedicated to his cause than most others in the group.

The post in question was part of an argument Ferguson was having with Dave Linhardt, the e-mail marketer suing Ferguson, anti-spam group Spamhaus, and a handful of other individual Nanae participants.

Ferguson apparently took issue with some claims Linhardt made in an article I wrote:

“Did you retract your claims about me … that you made on DM News to the little fat toad Ken Magill?” the post said.

Excuse me? DM News? DM NEWS!!??

Why, you *&%#!ing little ignorant piece of %&$#, I haven’t worked for that pathetic, press-release-publishing, snooze-inducing, shell-of-what-it-used-to-be, good-for-nothing-but-protecting-the-floor-from-the-dog trade rag since 2003.

For your information, I work for Direct, Magilla Marketing and Multichannel Merchant magazine—the only three publications worth reading in the direct marketing industry—thank you very much.

You better hope I calm down before I run into you, Mark.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got flies to catch.
