Strategic Sports Group has hired Michael O’Brien as business development manager and Enrique Marcos as account director, both new positions at the New York City agency.

O’Brien has been senior director of business development at Cellbucks Payment Networks, where he negotiated multi-year sports sponsorships with Cisco Systems, Bell Mobility and Nortel Canada. Before that, O’Brien was director of business development and consultant to the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.

Marcos will oversee the agency’s growing work for InBev including Bass, Beck’s, Rolling Rock, Labatt Blue, Brahma and Stella Artois brands, and will work on future multi-cultural marketing initiatives. Marcos had been an account director with Hispanic shop The Vidal Partnership; before that, he worked at Labatt USA managing the Tecate brand.
Both men joined Strategic Sports Group on April 18.
Meanwhile, the agency has picked up more business from Sharp Electronics Corp., Mahwah, NJ. Strategic Sports Group will review, build and diversify Sharp’s sponsorship portfolio, which includes properties in professional baseball, football, basketball and hockey.
